Live Results: Oklahoma Legislative Special Elections

Oklahoma closes out the 2023 election calendar with a State Senate special general election and a State House special primary.  

Polls close at 8:00 PM Eastern Time.

Oklahoma State Senate District 32

Republicans hold a 39-8 supermajority over Democrats in the Oklahoma State Senate. There is one vacancy. Members serve four year staggered terms; half the seat will be up in 2024.

District 32 is southwest of the Oklahoma City area, including portions of Lawton. Republican John Montgomery resigned to lead the Lawton Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce. Montgomery was reelected by a 67% to 33% margin in 2022.

Dusty Deevers is the Republican nominee, while Larry Bush will represent the Democrats. Both advanced from contested October primaries.

Oklahoma State House District 39 (Primary)

Republicans also dominate the Oklahoma House of Representatives. The party holds an 80-20 partisan advantage over Democrats. There is a single vacancy. Members serve two year terms; the next regular elections are in 2024.

District 39 sits slightly north of Oklahoma City. Republican Ryan Martinez resigned in September, after pleading guilty to DUI. He had served for seven years in the State House, and was unopposed for reelection in 2020 and 2022.

A field of seven Republicans is competing for the party's nomination. On the Democratic side, there are two candidates.

Libertarian Richard Prawdzienski will also appear on the the February 13 special general election ballot.
