Same Since 2016
States that have voted for the same party in 2 consecutive presidential elections
Donald Trump upended the electoral map in the 2016 presidential election. He flipped the rust belt states of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin that had not voted Republican in a generation.
Trump also won Florida, Iowa, Ohio and a congressional district in Maine. Those remained red in 2020.
The tan states, worth 72 electoral votes in 2024 (down from 74 in 2020), are those that Joe Biden flipped from 2016 on his way to winning the 2020 presidential election. Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin returned to the Democratic fold. Biden also won Georgia and Arizona, which last voted blue in 1992 and 1996, respectively. Biden also won Nebraska's 2nd district.
