2024 California House Election Interactive Map

All US House seats to be contested in 2024

For the first time in its history, California lost a congressional district in the most recent Census. However, its 52 districts are still the most in the nation. 2022 saw the GOP gain two seats, while Democrats lost one. Democrats continue to dominate the delegation, holding a 40-12 edge.

Five districts (13, 22, 27, 40, 45) are among just 18 Biden-GOP districts nationwide. These are districts represented by a Republican, but which the president won in 2020. With 2024 another presidential year, these seats are likely to be highly competitive.

At the other extreme, six districts in 2022 saw two Democrats on the ballot. This is possible because of the state's top-two system, where all candidates from all parties compete on a primary ballot, with the top two finishers advancing to the general election.
