A brief recap of elections held May 13, 2025.
Omaha Mayor
While the election was officially nonpartisan, Republican Mayor Jean Stothert lost to Democratic Douglas County Treasurer John Ewing Jr. (D). Stothert, Omaha's first female mayor, was denied a record 4th term. Ewing will be the city's first Black mayor.

There were also a number of legislative special elections and primaries on May 13.
Alabama State House District 11 (Primary)
Heath Allbright won a closely-contested Republican primary. He will be favored against Democrat Alexandria Braswell in the August 26 special election.
Massachusetts State House District 6th Essex
Hannah Bowen won in a landslide over Republican Medley Long, holding this district for Democrats.
Oklahoma Districts State House District 71 (Primary Runoff)
After nearly earning a majority in the April 1 primary, Beverly Atteberry easily won the GOP primary runoff. She will face Democrat Amanda Clinton in the June 10 special election.
Oklahoma Districts State House District 74 (Primary Runoff)
While this race hasn't been officially called as of publication time, others are reporting that Kevin Norwood has defeated Sheila Vancuren in the Republican runoff. Norwood will face Democrat Amy Hossain in the June 10 special election.
Oklahoma State Senate District 8
Republicans held the seat by a comfortable margin.

Pittsburgh Mayoral Primary
Seeking a second term, Mayor Ed Gainey is facing a competitive Democratic primary against Allegheny County Controller Corey O'Connor.
New York State Senate District 22 (Special)
The election will fill a vacancy in this Brooklyn district.
