Overview and Live Results: St. Louis Mayoral Election

Voters in St. Louis will elect a mayor on Tuesday. Polls close at 8:00 PM Eastern Time.

The city is the 76th largest in the United States, with a population of about 280,000. That is for the city itself, not the metropolitan area.

Democrat Tishaura Jones is seeking a second term in office. To achieve that, she'll need to win a rematch with alderwoman Cara Spencer, who is also a Democrat. In 2021, Jones prevailed by 52% to 48% over Spencer.

In both 2021 and 2025, Jones and Spencer advanced out of a four candidate, nonpartisan primary decided by approval voting. However, the order of finish flipped pretty dramatically. In 2021, Jones had 57% approval to 46% for Jones. This year, Spencer saw 68% approval, with Jones at 33%.

While the general election is a more traditional vote, a late March poll supports that primary result. Spencer led Jones by 55% to 31%.
