Inside Elections 2026 House Ratings

Inside Elections released its initial House ratings this past Friday. The forecaster sees another closely-contested battle for control on the horizon.

This article from Roll Call summarizes the projections.

Both parties start with a similar number of Safe seats: 180 for Republicans, 176 for Democrats. Adding in those rated Likely brings the total to 192 to 183 in favor of the GOP.

The Battle for Control will play out in the other 45 districts. 218 seats are needed for control.

Note that the initial forecast excludes Ohio's 15 congressional districts as the state is expected to undergo a midcycle redistricting this year.
