Tuesday's primary will result in the first ousted incumbent of 2022. With the state losing a seat in redistricting, Reps. David McKinley and Alex Mooney are fighting for the nomination in the redrawn 2nd district. State Senate

Republicans hold a large 23-11 edge over Democrats in the West Virginia State Senate. Members serve four-year staggered terms; Districts 1 through 17 are up for election this year.
