Governor

Republican Gov. Bill Lee is seeking a second term; he is unopposed for renomination. There are three Democrats seeking the nomination. Regardless of who advances, Lee is expected to be reelected in November.

U.S. House

These primaries will take place using redistricted boundaries.

District Party Comments
5 R Republicans 'cracked' Nashville into three districts during the redistricting process, turning a safely Democratic seat into one highly likely to flip to the GOP. Ten-term incumbent Jim Cooper is retiring; State Sen. Heidi Cooper will be the party's nominee. Nine candidates are seeking the GOP nomination.

State Senate

Republicans dominate the Tennessee State Senate, holding 27 of the chamber's 33 seats. Members serve four-year staggered terms; the odd-numbered districts are being contested in 2022.

State House

Republicans hold a large 72-24 margin over Democrats in the Tennessee House of Representatives. There are two independents and one vacancy. Members serve two-year terms.
