Governor
Unable to run in 2018 due to consecutive term limits, former Republican Gov. Paul LePage is seeking his old job this year. Both he and Democratic Gov. Janet Mills are unopposed in their primaries. This is likely to be a competitive general election; the current consensus ranking is 'Leans Democratic'.
U.S. House
Here are party-specific tables for the state's two congressional districts. Use the associated drop-down list to change the active district in the table.
The only contested primary is the Republican one in District 2. Former Rep. Bruce Poliquin is expected to advance, setting up a rematch of the 2018 election, where Democrat Jared Golden defeated Poliquin in the first congressional election decided by ranked choice voting.
State Senate
Democrats hold a 21-13 majority over Republicans in the Maine State Senate. There is one vacancy, which will be filled in a separate special election Tuesday. Members serve two-year terms.
State House
Democrats hold a 79-64 margin over Republicans in the Maine House of Representatives. There are three members with other party designations as well as five vacancies. Members serve two-year terms.
