U.S. Senate

Republican Marco Rubio is seeking a third term. He is unopposed for renomination. Four Democrats are vying to challenge him. The overwhelming favorite is Rep. Val Demings (FL-10).

Governor

Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis is unopposed for renomination. He is seeking a second term. While there are four on the Democratic ballot, the contest is a two-way race between Rep. Charlie Crist (FL-13) and the state's Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried. Crist has had a sizeable lead in most polls.

Crist previously served one term as the state's governor. He was elected - as a Republican - in 2006. Crist ran as an independent for U.S. Senate in 2010, finishing second to Republican Marco Rubio. He formally switched his affiliation to the Democratic party in 2012 and was elected to the U.S. House in 2016.

Elected in 2018, Fried is completing her first term as Agriculture Commissioner. She is the first woman to hold the position.

U.S. House

These primaries will be conducted using redistricted boundaries. The state is gaining a congressional district.

The key contests are discussed below. For additional perspectives: FiveThirtyEight |  U.S. News | Split Ticket

District Party Comments
1 R Safe GOP district. Fiery Trump acolyte Matt Gaetz is seeking a 4th term. He is being challenged by Mark Lombardo, a former business executive and Marine Corps veteran. Gaetz remains part of a long-running Federal investigation around sex trafficking. This Panhandle district is in the Central Time Zone; polls close here at 8:00 PM Eastern.
4 R Open after redistricting, three Republicans are seeking the nomination. The winner will be favored in November. State Sen. Aaron Bean appears to be the frontrunner.
7 R Democratic Rep. Stephanie Murphy is retiring from this district that was shifted significantly to the right in redistricting. Eight candidates are vying for the GOP nomination. The frontrunners, all from the MAGA wing of the party, are defense contractor Cory Mills, State Rep. Anthony Sabatini, and former Navy SEAL Brady Duke.
10 D Rep. Val Demings is retiring from this safely Democratic district; she is expected to be the party's nominee for U.S. Senate. A large field of ten candidates, including former Reps. Corrine Brown and Alan Grayson are running. State Sen. Randolph Bracy and activist Maxell Frost appear to have the best chance to win the nomination. Grayson is in the mix as well, something of concern to the party establishment.
11 R Incumbent Daniel Webster is being challenged from the far right by Laura Loomer, who was the party's nominee in District 21 in 2020. The district is safely Republican in the general election.
13 R Democratic Rep. Charlie Crist is running for governor. Eric Lynn, a former policy advisor to Barack Obama will be the party's nominee. Five are competing for the GOP nod. The two frontrunners are Air Force veteran Anna Paulina Luna and attorney Kevin Hayslett. Luna was the party's 2020 nominee, losing to Crist by about 6%. The district has shifted rightward in redistricting, with forecasters giving it a good chance of flipping in November.
15 BOTH Open after redistricting, there are contested primaries in both parties. Former Secretary of State Laurel Lee is the favorite to win the GOP nomination. Journalist Alan Cohn is likely to pick up the Democratic nod. Cohn was the party's 2020 nominee here, losing to Republican Rep. Scott Franklin by about 11%. Most forecasters rate the general election as Likely Republican.
20 D Democratic Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick is seeking her first full term after winning a special election earlier this year. In the primary for that election, she defeated former Broward County commissioner Dale Holness by just five votes.  Holness is hoping to win this primary rematch, but the incumbent is favored for renomination. The district is safely Democratic in November.
23 D Democratic Rep. Ted Deutch is retiring; he will leave Congress before his term ends to head a nonprofit. Six are competing to succeed him. Broward County commissioner Jared Moskowitz is favored. Whoever emerges will be a heavy favorite in November.
27 D Three Democrats are vying to challenge incumbent Republican Maria Elvira Salazar. The frontrunner appears to be State Sen. Annette Taddeo. In the general election, this district is toward the edge of the competitive set. Most forecasters currently rate it 'Likely Republican'.
