Sen. Tim Scott Suspends Presidential Campaign

South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott is ending his campaign for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. He made the announcement during an interview with Trey Gowdy on the Fox News Show 'Sunday Night in America'.

Scott brought an optimistic message and an early cash advantage to the campaign. However, he was only averaging about 3% in national polls, a figure that had changed little since he entered the race this past spring. He was doing somewhat better in Iowa, where the campaign had been focusing. In that state, he was averaging 8%.

Iowa kicks off the 2024 presidential calendar with the Republican Party caucuses on January 15.
