Republican Reps. Ken Buck and Kay Granger Will Not Run in 2024

Two Republicans have joined the list of those retiring from the U.S. House at the end of this term. Both districts are in conservative areas, and should remain with the GOP in next year's elections.

The list of departures is now at 21, including 14 Democrats and seven Republicans.

Ken Buck - Colorado District 4

Colorado's second-largest district by land area covers much of the state from parts of the Denver metropolitan area eastward to the border with Kansas and Nebraska. Buck won his 5th term by 24% in 2022.

Buck was one of eight Republicans who voted to oust speaker Kevin McCarthy last month. Despite being deeply conservative, he has become more estranged from the party, particularly over the issue of election denialism.

Kay Granger - Texas District 12

Granger, a 14-term member first elected in 1996, released a statement Wednesday announcing her decision.

District 12 is in the northern part of Texas, including parts of Fort Worth, as well as more rural areas to the west. Granger won reelection in 2022 by over 28%.
